Switchroot and switchdeck wants to make the Switch a Steam Deck via Linux and Steam

Do you dream of playing your PC games on the Nintendo Switch? The Switchroot project makes this possible by allowing you to install Linux and Steam on a modified Switch. The latest development, called Switchdeck, aims to provide a user experience similar to the Steam Deck.

To transform your Switch into a portable PC, you'll need an early, unpatched model of the console. The process involves preparing a microSD card, done via a custom recovery mode like Hekate. There, you allocate space for your Linux installation.

Next, you download the latest L4T Ubuntu or Fedora image from the Switchroot Wiki. This image is then flashed directly to the SD card using Hekate's USB tools and an RCM jig.

Once Linux is installed, you can download the Steam ARM64 client. By installing NintenDeck/Switchdeck DeckyLoader modules, you can then fine-tune fan speeds, overclocking, and interface settings to emulate the Steam Deck experience.
